Lash Extension Aftercare
-
After getting lash extensions, it's crucial to keep them dry for the first 24-48 hours. This allows the adhesive to fully cure. Avoid activities that may cause excessive moisture, such as hot showers, steam rooms, or swimming during this period.
-
No more oil from the neck up! That means your cleanser, your moisturizer, your scalp treatments etc. When cleansing your face and eye area, use oil-free and gentle cleansers. Avoid oil-based makeup removers or cleansers, as they can weaken the adhesive bond and cause the lashes to detach prematurely.
-
Avoiding water on your extensions is a MYTH! Not washing your lashes will result in infection and premature shedding. And baby shampoo wont cut it! We have lash baths for sale right in the studio.
Lashes should be washed with lash bath & fresh water AT LEAST every other day.
-
Use a soft, lint-free cloth or disposable cleansing wands to clean your lash extensions. Gently cleanse your lashes by patting them with the cleanser, rather than rubbing or scrubbing.
-
Use a clean mascara wand or a spoolie brush to gently comb through your lash extensions daily. This helps prevent tangling and keeps the lashes looking neat.
-
Refrain from touching or pulling on your lash extensions. Rubbing or tugging at them can lead to premature shedding. Touching transfers bacteria and oils which can lead to infection and/or premature shedding.
-
Refrain from rubbing or scratching your eyes, as this can damage both the extensions and your natural lashes.
-
It's best to avoid waterproof eye makeup products, as they can be difficult to remove and may weaken the adhesive bond. Instead, opt for water-based or oil-free makeup products.
-
Do not use eyelash curlers on your lash extensions. They are unnecessary and can damage both the extensions and your natural lashes.
-
If you're a side or stomach sleeper, consider using a silk or satin pillowcase to minimize friction between your lashes and the pillow. Alternatively, sleep with a soft sleep mask to avoid contact with your lashes.
-
Steam and excessive heat can weaken the adhesive. Be cautious around hot ovens, stovetops, or saunas, and avoid exposing your lashes directly to steam.
-
Lash extensions naturally shed with your natural lash growth cycle. To maintain a full look, schedule regular fill appointments every 10-14 days, depending on your lash growth cycle and how well you've cared for your extensions.
By following these care tips and being mindful of your lash extensions, you can enjoy a longer-lasting and more beautiful lash appearance. If you have any concerns or questions about lash extension care, don't hesitate to reach out to us for guidance and advice.
